The band has gone from strength to strength over the years building an army of fans worldwide. They believe that their sound represents the identity of the British Asian, and they are proud to fly that flag all over the world.
DCS is a Bhangra band that was formed in 1983. DCS has been shaking the Bhangra industry and the world's Asian population ever since. They have a remarkable, innovative ability to adapt to changing trends. They also play a major part in creating trends and being a role model for up and coming bands.
They were the first band to utilize the modern creative sounds of the synthesizers in the production of the late 80's Bhangra. This influenced all the Bhangra bands in the competitive market to change their style of music. The entrepreneurial strategies of DCS have become the main trend to follow.
In the 80's, DCS followed the demands of public research and began adding the traditional Bhangra patterns, those commonly found in the music of renowned artists such as Kuldip Manak, Gurdas Mann, K.Deep and Jagmohan Kaur. Modern music with the influence of the traditional Dhol and Tumbi embraced a real rich aroma of Punjab leading their success further to achieve Platinum and Gold disk sales.
In this age of copy, mix and match, DCS has managed to endeavour originality. Because of this DCS have earned their respect in the Bhangra industry and have attracted a global following that has been reflected in the outcome of tours worldwide.
Shin started singing while still at primary school, he was influenced from a young age and is still motivated today, by a wide variety of singers from around the world. His inspirations include Mohd. Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle from the Indian film industry, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ajoy Chakrobarty, Pandit Bheemsen Joshi some of the giants of Indian classical music and on the Bhangra scene he has always looked up to that ever green artist from Punjab, Gurdas Mann. In the west where Shin was born and educated he was influenced by artists such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, James Brown, Freddie Mercury and The Jackson 5 to name a few.
These wide and diverse influences when thrown into the mix have helped Shin to create his distinct style of vocal delivery and music production in the Bhangra industry which has become the trade mark sound of DCS the Bhangra band that Shin is a founder member of.
